Photograph of a double video projection of the film "Wednesday" by the artist duo M+M on the outer façade of the entrance gate of the State Museum of Egyptian Art. The black and white video stills on display show the same man driving in a car in the dark. His expression is serious and he is looking in the rear-view mirror. The headlights of another car can be seen through the rear window.

The artist duo M+M, Marc Weis and Martin De Mattia, present the film installation “Mittwoch” on the outer façade of the entrance gate of the State Museum of Egyptian Art.

In the work “Wednesday”, the viewer can follow two almost identical car journeys of a man (Christoph Luser) in parallel four-minute video projections after dusk. On one side he seems to be driven by longing, on the other by feelings of revenge. M+M address the car as a semi-public space. Precisely on the threshold between the private cell and the public sphere, it leads into a Janus-faced (ambivalent) world of emotions whose roots, according to M+M, are deeply rooted in our culture.
