They are surrounded by a series of one-eyed monsters. A yellow speech bubble assigned to one of the man reads, "Auf geht's, mein Freund. Die Stadt gehört uns!" ("Let's go my friend. The city is ours!")

In May 2017, comic motifs appeared on the billboard for the first time. They were designed by Munich-based comic artist Uli Oesterle.

For his work on the billboard “Auf geht’s mein Freund. Die Stadt gehört uns!” (“Off we go my friend. The city belongs to us!”), Uli Oesterle has designed two very different images, which are nevertheless connected by identical speech bubble texts. On display are characters and situations from Oesterle’s successful series “Hector Umbra” as well as from his graphic novel “Vatermilch”. In the latter, Uli Oesterle tells of the downfall of an affluent family father into alcoholism and homelessness. For this fictional but partly biographical story about his own father, Uli Oesterle received the Comic Book Award of the Berthold Leibinger Foundation in 2016.

Uli Oesterle, born in Karlsruhe in 1966, lives and works in Munich.
