In a multi-stage process, the participatory project “Framing Freiham” takes a photographic approach to the newly emerging district, its residents and its social spaces. The project restricts itself to analog photography, in order to enter into a conscious decelerated outdoor exchange with people who operate there. In workshops for adults and young people, the necessary basic knowledge is taught, the technical infrastructure is provided, and over the course of the summer – collectively and individually – photographs will be taken, developed, and discussed. The fixed location for these workshops will be a temporarily erected darkroom in Freiham. In a final presentation, “Framing Freiham” will be brought back into the public space with a multi-voiced photographic view of the district: on construction fence banners, reflecting the character of Freiham as a district under construction and in the making.
