The participatory performance oscillates between trauma and lust for life, between flight, expulsion and concentration camp experience of three young women and the swing after 1945

From Rotkreuzplatz, three people wrapped in gray blankets pull a heavy and exhausted wagon to the Hubertusbrunnen. The performance begins there at 5 pm. You can hear the experiences of the witnesses, interrupted by short musical quotations from the Slovenian music group “Laibach” and the punk rock band “Team Scheisse”. As soon as Gene Krupa’s drum solo from “Sing Sing Sing” by Benny Goodman begins, the three of them tear off their blankets, reveal colorful demon costumes and dance out all their anger, sadness and humiliation, but also their new courage to face life, until the audience is encouraged to dance along to swing music.

Dance: Katrin Schafitel, Ludger Lamers
Video & sound: Daniel Lindlbauer
